New Vietnam Visa Policy for International Tourists Update

With the new law taking effect on August 15, 2023, please be notified that the Government of Vietnam has made new changes regarding the visa policy for international tourists.

This is expected to create a breakthrough for tourism development in particular, thereby also increasing the opportunity for foreign visitors to enjoy their time in Vietnam on a more personal schedule than ever before.

  • Implement the policy of issuing electronic visas (E-Visa Vietnam) to citizens of all countries and territories.

The government verification agency agreed with the proposal to expand the scope of E-visa according to current regulations. Therefore, the expansion of the E-visa grant area greatly facilitates the simplification of administrative procedures and is in line with the current digital transformation trend.

  • Increase the duration of the e-visa from “no more than 30 days” up to “3 months” (no more than 90 days), which is valid once or multiple times.

Currently, E-visa is only valid for no more than 30 days (1 month) and is only valid for entry and exit to Vietnam once, and has been causing inconvenience in some cases when foreigners frequently need to come to Vietnam with the following priorities: tourism, investment, meeting, etc… in a fixed period.

With this new regulation, it is convenient for foreigners who regularly work and have long-term holidays plans in Vietnam. This greatly reduces the cost and time of procedures for international tourists and Vietnam’s immigration authorities.
