Step by step on How to apply for Laos E-Visa:
Step 1: Required documents & Photograph Specifications
- Personal Passport – must be valid for at least another 6 months.
- The Laos Visa Application form. If you apply at an embassy, you can download it online. If you apply for the visa on arrival, you can get the application form on the plane or at the checkpoint/airport.
- Two recent passport-size pictures: 4cm x 6cm dimensions, with white background.
- Proof of financial means to cover your stay.
- Proof of accommodation in Laos, such as hotel reservations.
- Any additional documents that the Laos’ consular services ask for, depending on your purpose of travel.
Step 2: Apply E-Visa
Apply online through Laos E-visa application (https://laoevisa.gov.la/apply); Laos E-Visa fee is 30$ USD – 45$ USD, depending on your nationality.
Step 3: Picture Processing
Upload a scanned copy of your passport’s bio page and a passport-sized photo (4*6cm, white background), specify your port of entry and the date of arrival.
Step 4: Check your mail!
The Lao tourist visa is valid for a maximum of 3 days. If you apply online, you have 60 days to use the visa approval letter to enter Laos.
Step 5: Time to Travel!
Upon arrival, fill out an entry/exit form, present it along with the passport and e-visa printout to get the full visa stamp on passport.

Please be noted that:
- Visa Extension:
You can extend your Laos visa at the Immigration Department in Vientiane or the Immigration Division Office of the province you are in. You can get an extension of your 30-day tourist visa only two times for a maximum stay of 90 days.
The extension fee is 20,000 Lao Kip (appx. USD 1.18) for each additional day your visa is extended and a 25,000 Lao Kip (USD 1.48) service fee.
You have to apply for a visa extension before your current visa expires.
