UNESCO has honored Koh Ker Temple on the World Heritage List

On September 17, 2023, the Koh Ker temple complex in Preah Vihear province of Cambodia was officially honored by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage at a meeting held in the capital Riyadh of Saudi Arabia.

The Koh Ker temple complex was built in the 10th century AD and was the ancient capital of the ancient Khmer Empire. Even though everything in the area has been ruined by time and war, the splendor of every detail and architectural line is still there.

The temple complex is located in the middle of a dense forest with a total of 169 archaeological relics, including 76 temples, along with civil works, lakes, dikes, and ancient roads. It is located in the center between three other Cambodia’s cultural heritage sites: Preah Vihear, Angkor Wat, and Sambor Prei Kuk.

In the mystique of the jungle, the temple is completely separate from other famous relics. The romantic and sad scene of the ancient city is always reflected in every corner of the temple here. Choosing a stone slab to lean back on, relax, and admire the scenery is an interesting experience for visitors. This place is suitable for a trip to explore and picnic to learn about history and spirituality.
